Experience and safety is our middle name. Your Alaska dog mushing adventure is supported by licensed expert guides, reliable snowmobiles and radios. Protected lodging is never very far during your Alaska dog sledding experience. Our guests fly in from all over the world, from total beginners to experienced and seven to over seventy. We’ve got two incredible, Alaska adventure travel vacations that no other dog mushing outfitter can match. On all our dog mushing trips we provide each guest a free video of their trip, which is recorded by our staff.

Golsovia Lodge Dog Mushing trip

Upon arrival in St. Michael, we acquaint you with the dogs and equipment to prepare for your dog mushing odyssey. We make sure you are properly outfitted then you take a 5 mile introductory "cruise" to adjust to Alaska dog sledding. First and last night lodging is at our St. Micheal lodge or home overlooking the frozen Norton Sound. The next day, we will travel to Klikitarik, which is the site of an abandoned Eskimo village. This trip is approximately 25 miles trip, which includes four miles of ocean ice (over 4 feet thick at this time) to the mainland. We spend the night in Klikitarik in a comfortable deluxe heated tent camp. Here we care for the dogs and the next day hit the road for our Golsovia River Lodge. This is another 25 mile trip, which includes 7 miles of uphill travel.

At Golsovia, both the dogs and the mushers enjoy a break. We arrive before dark and take the next day off. After two days of dog mushing, the teams will rest, we'll enjoy the warmth of the lodge, and sample other types of Alaska adventure travel. Activities include hiking up the frozen Golsovia river, snowshoeing, snowmobiling and wildlife viewing. Most years we can watch the caribou herds right from our lodge migrating from their winter range. Other possible wildlife sightings include eagles, hawks, willow ptarmigan, fox arctic, falcons and snowshoe hares, and possibly wolf, wolverine and moose.

Alaska Adventure Travel: Iditarod Dog Mushing Trip

Here’s a unique opportunity to see in person the emotions of some final Iditarod finishers as they cross the finish line after a grueling Alaska dog sledding race. You can talk with racers, pet their team and be a part of the Iditarod race atmosphere in Famous Nome, Alaska. In March we offer two Alaska adventure travel trips that coincide with the Iditarod Finishers Banquet. Both the departing and arriving Golsovia dog mushing groups (see above) will spend Saturday night and Sunday night in Nome attending the banquet and meeting the mushers. We will stay in the best hotel in Nome and have plenty of time to see Nome, its shops and its people.

If you’ve marveled at the Iditarod, the "Last great race on earth", then this is the opportunity to be a part of it and drive your own team of sled dogs with Iditarod Hall of Fame Inductee, Jerry Austin.
